The mind of a child ... (David Lowrie)

The mind of a child.
So vibrant and beautiful.
The unconditional love so elegant and dutiful. The mind of a child.
So soft, yet untamed.
The mind of a child,
whose views become re-framed.
Re-framed to view the world through a tinted glass lens.
When we are a toddler is when this begins.
We get taught what is right, by doing what is wrong.
We fail over and over again and to humility, we belong.
We get taught how to treat others by the way that we are treated.
We get taught to love or hate.
The latter of which is needed.
We realize that the world is so much bigger than our house.
We realize the immense beauty whether we're indoors or out.
We grow and learn so fast and each lesson truly lasts.
They're embedded in our soul and we're reflections of our past.
We practice each of these traits
whether or not we can relate.
It's our responsibility to un-learn
all of that which may not serve -
the life we want to live
and with this, to you, I give -
permission to change,
to constantly re-arrange.
To flow like hot mollasses
and take off your tinted glasses.
Despite what we were taught,
we now control our thoughts.
The mind of a child is fragile as it is pure.
The mind of an adult will always learn to endure.
